• Michael "Zeke" Zavacky presents: HERE FOR THERE ARTISTS FOR HAITI in collaboration with La Petite Mort Gallery. Artists for Haiti Fund Raising Event. 100% of all art sales will go to earthquake relief in Haiti. Local artists have come together in order to raise money for emergency earthquake relief in Haiti. More than 50 artists have donated work that is affordably priced and will be sold with 100% of sales going to help the tragic situation in Haiti. A minimum $5 donation fee will be asked. Money will be donated to WORLD VISION Canada, with the Canadian government matching the money we raise. So every dollar given DOUBLES! We need people to show up, and be generous. • A concert of Latin music (traditional and popular) with South American fusion group PACHAMAMA MUSIC & CARIDAD CRUZ/CESAR RICARDO. This double bill concert will be held at the NAC Fourth Stage. January 28 at 7:30, and tickets are $15 each. It is sponsored by CHIN Radio in conjunction with Carleton University, as part of their CHIN Radio World Music Showcase. Pachamama Music (Music of Mother Earth) is a Latin-Andean ensemble that blends traditional Andean music of Peru with Latin guitar-based styles such as the Bossa Nova. Band leader and multi-instrumentalist Willy Terrones has performed with several folkloric groups in Peru, Bolivia, Brazil, and French Guyana. A native of Havana, Cuba, CARIDAD CRUZ delights audiences everywhere with her powerful voice and charismatic high energy. Performing with her in this concert is fellow Cuban CÉSAR RICARDO, a brilliant guitarist, singer and songwriter in the trovadore tradition. Together they create stunning vocal harmonies in a variety of Latin styles with rhythms ranging from the furious to the soulful. Not to be missed! 10. Call for Participation: The Winterlude Urban Cozy Project. Deadline February 1st. Be a part of a large-scale, international, winter public craft installation that will transform Canada’s national capital during Winterlude, one of the largest winter festivals in the world. For cozies to be on display on opening night, the submission deadline for cozies is February 1, 2010. (However cozies can be received until February 10, 2010 to appear in the latter half of the festival). 11. CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS: local QUAD artists. The Hintonburg Community Association, Councillor Christine Leadman and Bell Canada have collaborated, to offer a unique opportunity to artists to enhance their neighbourhood this Spring. In an attempt to discourage the repeated graffiti tagging of the Bell Canada Utility boxes, a pilot public art project has been launched seeking artists to paint murals on a select number of boxes. Similar projects have proven successful in other Canadian cities such as Edmonton, Toronto and Halifax. Deadline: February 14, 2010. more
12. Causeway Foundation Ottawa is currently seeking artistic submissions - Deadline February 28, 2010. The Causeway Foundation is currently seeking donated artistic and photographic images for its 2010 Holiday Card Campaign. This annual campaign raises money to support a local organization, Causeway Work Centre. Causeway is a community economic development organization that provides a range of employment and educational programs to individuals with mental health issues and/or disabilities, and those who are homeless or at risk of becoming so. One hundred percent of the funds raised by the Holiday Card Campaign support Causeway. more

1. The Coalition of New Canadians for Arts and Culture is organizing an Art Exhibition in May 2010 in Ottawa showcasing artworks that acknowledge and celebrate Diversity and Multiculturalism.
The exhibition will be at the Art Ottawa East (Shenkman Arts Centre) www.artsoe.ca and at the Patrick John Mills Contemporary Fine Art Gallery. www.patrickjohnmills.ca
Eligibility Criteria
The Exhibition is open to established and emerging artists. Artists must be New Canadians (meaning Canadians or permanent residents born in another country.)
The general guidelines for submitting artworks are as follows:
• Provide name, address, phone number, e-mail address and web site if available.
• Include Curriculum Vitae detailing experience and other relevant information.
• Submit digital files with a maximum of 10 artworks. These files must be in JPEG format and should be no less than 1 MB and should not exceed 3 MB in size.
• Include a description of works: media, size (inches: height x width), date and total price (taxes included).
• All works must have been finished within three years prior to submission and completed after May 2007.
• Provide a one-sentence statement describing the work submitted.
• All Media are accepted (two-dimensional works: paintings and works on paper including photographs). • Experimental and mixed techniques are welcome.

We will acknowledge submissions as received. If you do not hear from us within a few days, please resubmit. Do not send original artwork.
After the submissions have been reviewed to ensure compliance with eligibility criteria, a panel of 5 jurors will evaluate the digital files and select the artists to be invited to participate in the exhibition. Those chosen will then be asked to submit the original artwork represented in their digital file submission.
Only up to 4 to 6 artworks per artist will be accepted. Artworks should preferably have the same theme.
Works on canvas to be exhibited must also be secured on stretcher bars; framing is optional. However, if the painting is on paper, the work must be framed with glazing; i.e., glass or Plexiglas.
Loose, exposed, or unprotected paper works cannot be accepted.
Selection will take place in April 2010.

2. Invitation to Mentors
Supporting New Immigrant Artists and Arts Professionals
The Coalition of New Canadians for Arts and Culture (CNCAC) is developing a model for mentoring in the cultural sector and would like to invite artists and arts professionals in all disciplines who would like to volunteer to mentor new immigrant artists and arts professionals to contact us.
The CNCAC will be running a series of workshops for Mentors led by Bruce Switzer, President of Integration Resources Canada, on 24 February and on 3, 10, and 17 March 2010 from 6 pm to 9 pm. These workshops are intended to explore and create a new mentoring model focused on employment and business opportunities in Ontario s cultural economy, and are designed to train Mentors to understand the value of their own experience and to develop effective career strategies for new immigrants.
Mentors will be matched with new immigrant artists and arts professionals to assist them with their full integration into the cultural life of Canada, and will take part in a joint series of workshops with Mentees that will be held once a month from April to June 2010.
If you are interested in being a Mentor and in contributing to this program, please send us a covering letter describing your interest and experience in mentoring, in working with new Canadians, and in the cultural sector, and please do include a short biography or r?sum? (no longer than two pages).
Please note that there is limited space in the program and because of the nature of the program, attendance at all workshops is mandatory. Please send your covering letter along with your biography or r?sum? to Miguel Sanchez Navarro no later than 15 January 2010, and do let us know if you have any questions.
